Boda is a wedding marketplace for Utah, run by Pilas Studios LLC. This policy covers the Boda apps for iPhone and Android and the website at utahboda.com.

The short version: you can browse the whole catalog without an account and without telling us who you are. We do not track you, we do not sell anything about you, and we do not carry advertising. We collect what the app needs to do the thing you asked it to do, and that is all.

Using Boda without an account

Browsing, searching, the map and every listing are free and anonymous. No account, no profile, nothing kept. Our hosts keep ordinary server logs — the IP address and the page requested — which is how any website works and how we keep it running.

An account is only needed when you want to keep something: boards, your plan, or sharing it with the people helping you.

What we collect when you do have an account

Everyone

  • Your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
  • A display name and a profile photo, if you add them.

If you are planning a wedding

  • Your names, your wedding date and a photo, if you add one.
  • Your plan: which parts of the day you are planning, the places under each one, whether each is scheduled or booked or passed on, the reason you passed, and the dates and times of visits.
  • Your boards and what you have saved to them.
  • Who you invited to help plan with you, so everyone sees the same wedding.

If you list a business

  • Your listing: business name, category, town, description, price band, capacity and setting.
  • How couples reach you: phone, email, website, address, postal code and booking link. This is published on your listing on purpose — it is the point of being listed.
  • Photos you upload, and how you have cropped them.
  • Your availability: the days of the week you work, your hours, and days you have blocked.
  • Counts of how many times your listing has been opened and saved. These are totals. We do not tell you who looked.

Messages

When a couple and a business talk through Boda, we store the messages so both of you can read the thread later. We do not read them except when we have to — a report, a legal obligation, or fixing something that is broken.

Reports and blocks

If you report something, we keep what you reported, the reason, and anything you wrote, so we can act on it and so we have a record if the same thing happens again. If you block somebody, we store that so we can keep them away from you. The person you blocked is not told.

Payments

Business subscriptions are handled by Stripe. Stripe takes the card details directly — they never reach our servers and we never see them. We store whether a subscription is active and when it renews. Couples never pay Boda anything.

What we do not collect

  • Your location. Neither app asks for it or uses it. There is no location permission in the Android app and no location code in the iPhone app.
  • Tracking of any kind. No advertising identifiers, no analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers, no cookies used to follow you. We do not track you across other apps or websites and we never will.
  • Your contacts, calendar, microphone or camera roll. When you add a photo you choose it yourself, one at a time, and we only ever receive the one you picked.
  • Anything we sell. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. Our revenue is business subscriptions.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we use them only for things that have actually happened to you — a reply, a visit you scheduled, a new enquiry. You can turn them off in your phone’s settings at any time, and nothing else about the app changes if you do.

Who else is involved

We keep this list short on purpose. These companies process data because Boda cannot run without them, and each does one job:

  • Supabase — the database, sign-in, and photo storage.
  • Stripe — business subscription payments.
  • Vercel — hosting for utahboda.com.
  • Apple and Google — distributing the apps and, if you allow them, delivering notifications.
  • Map providers — Apple Maps on iPhone and OpenStreetMap on Android draw the map. Loading map tiles or a temple photograph tells that provider your IP address, the way loading any image on the internet does.

None of them are allowed to use your information for their own purposes.

What is public

A published listing is public. Its name, description, photos and the contact details you put on it are visible to anyone using Boda or the website, and search engines index them.

Everything on the couple’s side is not. Your boards, your plan and your saved places are visible only to you and to the people you invited to your wedding. Businesses are never shown who saved their listing.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app — Profile, then Your account, then Delete account. Everything you made goes with it: your wedding, your plan, your boards and the items in them, and your listing if you had one. It cannot be undone.

Two things survive on purpose. Messages you sent stay legible to the person you sent them to, because a conversation belongs to both people in it. Reports stay, because a record that disappears when the reporter leaves is not a record.

If you would rather we did it for you, write to help@pilastudios.com from the address on the account.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Most of it you can see and change yourself in the app. For anything else, write to help@pilastudios.com and we will answer.

We will not treat you differently for asking. There is nothing to withhold — the free parts of Boda stay free either way.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted. Which rows any account can read or write is enforced by the database itself rather than by the app asking nicely, so a bug in one of our apps cannot hand somebody another person’s wedding. Sessions are held in the iPhone Keychain and in Android’s encrypted storage.

No system is perfect. If we ever get something wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you.

Children

Boda is for people planning a wedding and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Where your information is held

Boda is run from the United States and the information is stored there. If you are using Boda from elsewhere, you are sending it to the United States.

Changes

If we change this, we will change the date at the top. If the change actually matters — new information collected, or a new reason for collecting it — we will tell you in the app rather than quietly editing the page.
